Actually I was talking about being able to afford a VPS or any other server. Not all of us live in first world countries.

So you propose we centralize the hosting on AWS instead. Just a different layer is centralized. And Amazon isn't really a "nice" company either.

No. I do not propose that. I hereby declare my non-support for *exclusive* use of AWS. I think it's fine if *some* people use it however, for what it's worth I don't, myself.

I could run my own pump, sure, but not on the web space I rent, cuz they don't like background processes. And if I run it on my own machine, that's putting all my eggs in one basket, you see, and is kind of not so great. (But you know maybe I'll go find a proper VPS, and then I can run it there.)
